Lightning Strikes Twice! - 25 July 2005

For some background information on this news item, read the story in the News Achieve dated the 24th June 2004- Another Golden Fox.

In that story, we referred to the outcome of the mating between Honours List and Sweet Human and the filly foal that was produced. This filly is a half sister to Golden Fox and was not offered by Bill Duncan, principle of Bill Duncan Bloodstock Pty Ltd, at any of the yearling sales. He had other plans in mind as we are now able to report.

The filly will be raced by Bill Duncan Bloodstock Pty LTD Racing Syndicate, Don Malcolm and Mike Owen and will be trained by Trevor Whittington. The connection is that Don and Mike are the owners of Golden Fox and Trevor is his trainer.

And her name is Petrucci. As everyone would be well aware, Roxy Petrucci was a foundation member of the all female, hard rock band Vixen; so what better name for a half sister to Golden Fox?

The Golden Fox story continues as he returned to Trevor Whittington's stable on 9th July after a six month spell following major surgery by Dr. Nick Kannegieter for a slab fracture of his right foreleg. Trevor believes the injury was incurred on 8th January 2004 during the running of the $1million Magic Millions 3 Year Old 1400m at the Gold Cost. On this occasion Golden Fox carried top weight of 56.5 kg and raced to the front half way down the straight only to falter in the last 100m to be beaten into 5th place only 2.4 lengths from the winner Tippitaka.

On the breeding side, Sweet Human is expecting her Foxhound foal on 12th August 2005 and has been booked to Danzero this season.

Breeding Season 2005 Update - 15 July 2005

We have just completed our stallion bookings for the upcoming season in consultation with Les Young from Doncaster Bloodstock Services Pty LTD and we are very optimistic that we have achieved some exciting matings for 2005.

We have recently undertaken a project to select five weanlings for Bill Duncan Bloodstock Pty LTD at the recent Magic Millions National Weanling Sale held at the Gold Coast on 12-14 June 2005. These five colts have now joined the band of weanlings at Couzinz and with Studmaster Ian Crompton's expert care will develop into strong and athletic yearlings.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that we have entered into the Couzinz Breeding Venture #1 with two of our key clients Bill Duncan Bloodstock Pty LTD and Iskander Racing and Breeding Pty Ltd. These breeders are major shareholders in Honours List (IRE), the most precocious son of Danehill, and they have been instrumental in relocating the stallion to Widden Stud in the Hunter Valley for the 2005 season.

As a result, we will be providing the operational and administrative infrastructure for five well bred maiden mares to visit Honours List this season and we will ultimately raise the foals and prepare them for the yearling sales in 2007.
