Inaugural Sale a Success - 17 January 2005

Couzinz prepared five yearlings on behalf of Bill Duncan Bloodstock Pty Ltd for the Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Sale at the Gold Coast Complex on 11th and 12th January 2005.

These outstanding individuals were all sired by Honours List (IRE) himself, the most precocious group winning son of Danehill in the world.

The results of the sale were as follows:

Lot No. Details Purchaser Price
856 Honours List- Wham Bam- Brown Colt Recently Sold $15,000
870 Honours List- Zirascible- Brown Filly Doncaster Bloodstock Services $40,000
880 Honours List- All Wild- Brown Colt Doncaster Bloodstock Services $25,000
891 Honours List- Autumn Day- Bay Filly Scorndale Lodge $22,500
1015 Honours List- Grand Scenic- Brown Colt Doncaster Bloodstock Services $28,000

At the conclusion of the sale, Bill Duncan stated that he considered the inaugural presentation of yearlings by Couzinz to be an outstanding success. He said , " It's a pity we started the sale on a tough note with the Wham Bam colt knocking his offside front knee three days before coming to the Gold Coast and, despite lots of inspections, he was passed in. On the other hand, the Zirascible filly was always going to attract plenty of attention and it was pleasing to see that she was the top selling Honours List yearling for Sessions 5-6 and the second highest priced Honours List sold at the Magic Millions Sale."He added that the All Wild colt and Autumn Day filly were judged by buyers to be up to the standard of the sale and represented excellent value at around the Session 5 average of $26,355. He predicted that the Grand Scenic colt, who was the most precocious of the draft, would turn out to be an exciting proposition".

On behalf of Couzinz, Cameron Osborne commented that the Sale was an exceptional result and the presentation of the yearlings and their subsequent sale value was a credit to Couzinz Manager, Ian Crompton and his staff. He said, "We are particularly impressed that Doncaster Bloodstock Services purchased three of our yearlings. Les Young is recognised Australia wide as the expert in thoroughbred conformation and for him to select our horses on behalf of his clients is a real vote of confidence in our standard of yearling preparation, not to mention his obvious impression of Honours List as a stallion ".
